'The technical side'...

This project involves the digital side of embroidery, using a variety of programs to create different digitally embroidered pieces...

These 2 images are my first attempt at the 'Janome Scan 'n' Sew', a machine that scans in your own drawings and allows you to transfer onto a machine for it to digital sew for you onto the fabric of your choice and using the yarn colours of your choice as well...

These next 2 images are of the piece i created on 'Customizer', a program that allows you to take a scan of your own imagery/drawings, then edit them, select stitch types, stitch size, stitch colour, etc, and once completed, save to a flashcard which you then slot into one of the certain sewing machines and it stitches the design for you...

Research...

I have started a research sketchbook where i am placing any research, imagery, articles, etc that relate to this brief and my chosen concept...Below are a selection of pages from this book...

Drawings...

These images are the start of my drawing work from my sketchbook, using a range of media to create...

From our drawings we have generated, we have been using them to look at and produce compositions, and what a design would be like repeated, etc...These images below are a start of my composition work...

Initial Research...

Due to the nature of this project, i have decided to go down the floral route, however i do  not want to be focusing on the obvious so once my initial research and drawings have been created, i will develop and push this idea...
Firstly i made a trip to 'The Birmingham Botanical Gardens & Glasshouses', where i took a large amount of photographs and gathered a lot of inspiration...
I have compiled a sketchbook together of my photographs along with botanical illustrations...Below are a selection of images from this sketchbook...
